A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) official has been confirmed to be infected with the Corona virus and this is the first case of infection in the force. Officers reported on Friday that an officer of sub-inspector rank was on leave and went to a doctor for dental treatment, after which he was examined for Corona virus infection.
The NDRF officer has been admitted to the separate residence ward of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) Referral Hospital in Greater Noida on Thursday. He said that the appointment of this officer on deputation from Sashastra Seema Bal was presently at NDRF headquarters.
The NDRF, constituted by the Central Government in 2006, is a strong force dealing with national-level disasters, with 12 battalions. Currently, more than 40 teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations in Odisha and West Bengal during the cyclone ‘Amfan’.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) comprise the Central Armed Police Force till Thursday. 43 new cases have been reported.
On Friday, 24 new cases were reported in the BSF with about 2.5 lakh personnel, out of which seven are personnel deployed in the headquarters of the force. A BSF spokesperson said that all the new cases have come from Delhi and all of them are from personnel deployed in various installations of the force.
At the same time, 13 new cases have come to the CISF, out of which four are in the team deployed in the security of Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand. Five new cases have also been reported in CRPF. So far, one of the personnel of the country’s anti-terrorism force NSG (National Security Guard) has been confirmed infected.
