Five people died of Kovid-19 in Tamil Nadu on Saturday (May 23), with which more than 100 people have died due to infection in the state so far, while 759 new cases of infection have been reported. The number of infected reached 15,512. The health department gave this information.
The Bulletin of the Health Department said that out of the new cases of infection, 49 are people who have come to the state from different places. A 75-year-old woman and four men from Chennai died due to infection, suffering from various other diseases. The state now has the death toll of 103. The bulletin said that the infected people included two children of one month each in Kanchipuram and Chennai.

Sources in the health department told PTI-language that 21 employees of several companies, including automobile manufacturing companies in neighboring Sriperumbudur, are also among the newcomers infected with Kovid-19. According to a senior health department official, 18 of them belong to a company called Nokia Solutions and Networks India in Sriperumbudur. When asked about this, a Nokia spokesperson said that the functioning of the unit has been suspended and they have started activities to make the campus infection-free.
The bulletin states that 363 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovering, with which a total of 7,491 people have been discharged in the state so far. The number of infected reached 9,989 on Saturday after 624 new cases were reported in Chennai. The total number of infected people reached 15,512 after 759 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in the state.
